Jessica Sanchez Discusses Upcoming Events

with one comment

American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez has been quite busy as of late, with a new album debuting and being casted in the Fox television series “Glee.” In this video from AssociatedPress, Jessica sits down to talk about her new album and career as an actress, along with discussing some of her musical influences.

Mixed in with the sit-down interview are clips of Jessica in her new music video with fellow pop star Ne-Yo. She talks about working with him and how she enjoys his personality.

Sanchez, 17, was contacted by Ryan Murphy, the producer of Glee, shortly after finishing American Idol about creating a role for her on his show. This will be her first time as an actress and she has been taking acting classes in preparation for her debut on the primetime television series.

One thing I noticed about the video was the editing. I understand what they were trying to accomplish, with fading her in and out with the music, but it all seemed a little choppy to me. The interview consisted of only her answering the questions, with the questions themselves omitted. Maybe it would’ve worked better had we been able to see the interviewer as well instead of just her.

10 Question for Maya Angelou

with one comment,32068,2257965777001_2139640,00.html

This is an interview with the iconic Maya Angelou. She is an award-winning writer, poet, and lyricist. She is known for her unique tone in her poetry such as, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”, and how she relates most of her poetry to the African-American culture.

She has written a total of 7 biographies including her new autobiography called “Mom & Me & Mom”, a story of her relationship with her mother and the time she spent with her. She also speaks of her upcoming 85th birthday. She speaks briefly on her past works and makes the inspiring comment that basically states that even though she has had so much success she still wants the write so that everyone can understand it.

This woman is a remarkable writer and historical figure to be looked at and embraced as what it means to write with a purpose of something other that some kind of profit.

This is a short profile on a Hattiesburg Police Department Patrol Officer. He can be found protecting and serving from the hours of 5 pm to 6 am. I had the chance to speak with him as his shift was nearing it’s end at around 5 in the morning. He was exhausted from his long shift, but did little to indicate it. He explained the variety of crimes he responds to on a daily basis. He briefly explained that he responds to things as minor as speeding tickets to as gruesome as murders.
