Similar Crimes, Different Conditions.

While sex offenders in Simi Valley, Ca are prohibited from any type of Halloween festivities a man in Simmesport, LA was arrested for violating his registered sex offender contract by participating in Halloween activities. Washington, was arrested Wednesday with failure to provide proper identification and sex offender violation. He was caught handing out candy and participating in a haunted house; the law is that all sex offenders cannot wear masks, hoods or disguises for any type of holiday where any type of gifts or candy or anything are distributed to minors. I am not sure if that means he can pass out candy and participate in stuff as long as he is not in disguise or what; but if that is the case why are sex offenders in Louisiana granted more privileges than those in California? Don’t you think there should be a universal law addressing every situation they may find themselves in? Why don’t they all get the same type of treatment if they committed the same type of crime?

Who is qualified to participate in Halloween

A new law in Simi Valley, California prohibits sex offenders from participating in Halloween at all. They are not allowed to pass out candy or decorate, and they have to put a sign up saying they do not have candy. I understand why, considering it is a children based holiday and a lot of sex offenders have committed crimes against children; but at the same time technically they do have rights also. What do people expect to happen in the five seconds that a child spends at a house trick or treating? And if the child is being properly supervised then the chances of anything happening should be eliminated. With that being said though, some people are extremely sick and will snatch up a child in front of their older sibling. I am on the fence about this law, but I think my main view is it’s better to be safe than sorry. What do you guys think?

Trick Or Treat, Halloween 2012 in Indiana

While Halloween is typically a holiday where shenanigans are expected and thrills and scares are anticipated, organized crime is still frowned upon; just as it is every other day of the year. Most people that plan robberies tend to go for banks and places that have an abundance of money, but in Indiana the trendy thing to do is clearly rob CVS. I found this article rather interesting, and I have attached the link for you guys.
