Ice Harvest

with one comment

Each year locals in Tulley harvest ice on a frozen lake to recall the tradition. The old tradition was used before there were refrigerators so people could keep items cold. In this video, a description of the harvest and how it is done are portrayed. The people of the town keep the tradition alive each and every year.

Assignment for Monday February 18, 2013. We were messing around with iMovie, and this is what my project ended up looking like. The videos were shot by Peter Chen and all editing was done by Mason Davis. The videos were at a hot air balloon festival. Thanks for watching.

Tornado Clean Up Efforts

leave a comment »

The University of Southern Mississippi has never been closer than they have in this past week. With the storm that stuck campus Sunday February 10, the community came together to recover and clean up together. Students had the opportunity to come and help with a campus wide clean up on the Wednesday after the tornado struck. Hundreds of students came to aid there campus, to give back what they could to as campus that has given them so much to look forward to. Although many of the buildings toward the front of the campus have been severely damaged, or condemned, this will not stop the Southern Miss spirit from rebuilding and restoring what we have. The scars will always be there, but the Southern Miss spirit will never die.

This is a video of the tornado that ripped its way across Hattiesburg and through our campus here at USM. This is probably the best video I have seen of the tornado. The chaser in the car gets really good footage of the campus at the end of the video.

Stereotyping in Media and the World

with one comment

Stereotyping is something that affects many people on a day to day basis. It is everywhere. In the media, in school, in the workplace, etc. The reason I am so in-tune with this topic of stereotyping is because in my grade school days I was stereotyped by people thinking I was a Satanic person. Stereotyping is uncalled for in every way, shape and form. Do not assume. Ask first.
