Bennett named President of The University of Southern Mississippi

with one comment

During his press conference with us as students, I knew then the Institutional of Higher Learning Board made a great choice of making Dr. Rodney Bennett the preferred choice for the University of Southern Mississippi. As a result, it is evident that the Southern Miss family, school officials, and students felt the same way in which he was named president of the university. Bennett has a strong love for students and a desire to have strong interactions with us. He has a tremendous vision for this university and will live up to the Southern Miss Standard of stating, ” Southern Miss… To the Top”.

While listening to him speak during the student press conference, he spoke with great confidence, composure, and the eagerness to start implementing his plan for the university. As students, the university continues to change each and every day on all levels. With that being said, there were one major thing that he said I truly value. He said to a student that his main goal that he plans to do is to increase the graduation rate of students from the university. ” The graduation rate at the university will be a reflection of me, and I need you as students to GRADUATE,” said Bennett. This truly assured me that Bennett is here to better the university and is willing to help those in need. It should not be an excuse for any student to not be successful here at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Dr. Rodney Bennett’s presence, student interaction on campus and his plan for establishing success will allow Southern miss to evolve into a greater institution for higher learning for students.
