White House Announces “National Civic Hacking Day”

Here’s a story on cnet.com by reporter Dara Kerr on a very unique announcement made by the White House today.
The government has announced that it will publicly release data to support a “National Day of Civic Hacking” on June 1 and 2, 2013.
The U.S. government hopes that computer hackers nationwide will come together and use the data from organizations like NASA and the Census Bureau to improve communities and promote government transparency. Overall, I think this announcement and event speaks to the technological advancement of our country and the progression of the times.
